These are five popular hair extension methods, differing in installation, durability, comfort and removal. Choose according to your lifestyle, budget and wearing needs.

Product Features & Pros & Cons

K-tips, i-tips, clip-ins, tape-ins, sew-ins: which extension method is right for you?

K-tips

Individual strands of hair with a keratin tip that are fused to your natural hair using a heat tool.

  • Advantages: Invisible bonds, natural movement, long service life. Suitable for most hair types. Can be colored, curled, and styled like natural hair. Perfect for creating custom colors and textures.
  • Disadvantages: Professional installation required; heat is used during application. Not ideal for extremely fine or fragile hair. - Duration: 8-12 weeks.
  • Duration: 6-8 weeks.

I-tips

A semi-permanent way to add length and volume by attaching individual hair strands to natural hair using small beads, without any heat, glue, or chemicals.

  • Advantages: No heat, glue, or tape, gentle on natural hair. Natural movement. Reused for several installations with new beads.
  • Disadvantages: Professional installation required. Can slip on very oily or fine hair. Beads may be visible if hair is very thin. Must be adjusted every 6-8 weeks.
  • Duration: 6-8 weeks.

Clip-ins

Temporary extensions fixed with clips. Easy to put on and take off at home.

  • Advantages: No damage to hair, low cost, flexible to wear. Perfect for occasional styling, parties or daily casual looks.
  • Disadvantages: May feel bulky if worn for long hours; easy to shift during strenuous exercise.
  • Duration: Wear and remove daily.

Tape-ins

Extensions bonded with thin adhesive tape, attached flat against the scalp.

  • Advantages: Ultra-thin and comfortable, hidden well, natural styling effect. Less pulling on hair.
  • Disadvantages: Avoid heavy oil or hair care products to prevent loosening. Need professional repositioning regularly.
  • Duration: 4–6 weeks.

Sew-ins (Weave)

Extensions are woven and sewn onto tight braids of natural hair.

  • Advantages: Firm fixation, strong durability, no glue or heat used. Great for thick hair and long-term wear.
  • Disadvantages: Braids may cause slight tension; bulky at the roots. Not suitable for thin or sensitive scalps.
  • Duration: 8–10 weeks.
